Having experience of losing, there are also things Hanyu regained: his initial enthusiasm ー "a mind that keeps trying".

"Of course next season I want to do a quadruple jump in the latter half. I want to work hard to build a strong body in the summer, and take on the challenge. Now I'm in a position to chase."

Right after saying that, Hanyu showed his brightest smile of the season. Even in the midst of suffering, he must have been thinking about the meaning of being the Olympic champion.
