"This time I challenged five quadruple jumps, including the popped Salchow, so I felt it is possible to include five (quadruples). But I need one more kind of quadruple because I want to include two Axels. Though it's unrealistic now, I can see it in the future."

Hanyu talked positively about his expectations, ensuring this was a competition in which he felt stimulations despite his frustration.

"There are many things that I have to pursue, and I think I can raise my level," he said, having reconfirmed his desire for never-ending growth.
