Chen also tried six quadruple jumps of four kinds in the final run and scored 321.40 points to win the free skate. Chen showed his remarkable strength while younger skaters were also willing to compete in the tournament.

For Hanyu, this was the beginning of the fierce competition with his new rival, Chen.
