Pursuing not only a degree of difficulty but also a degree of perfection ー this new approach became one of Hanyu's strengths.

"I want to compete with a mature performance with a high degree of perfection."

After overcoming his injuries, Hanyu discovered his ideal figure skating. The top of the podium was in sight if he could perform it perfectly.

The official practices from the day after the press conference were always tense. Many people continued to pay attention to Hanyu's every move. Under such circumstances, he was practicing with less expression while firmly grasping his condition.

And at the short program on the 16th, he made no mistakes thanks to his amazing concentration.

He told himself firmly that, "If I do what I can do to the maximum, I can win," and his perfect performance in the short program was nothing short of spectacular. It was a performance in which he calmly determined himself and completely controlled every corner of the slide.

Hanyu showed his pride as a champion, starting on his journey towards becoming the first man in 66 years to win consecutive Olympic titles in figure skating.
